Corrugated Polycarbonate Sheet Installation Guides

1. Thermal Movement
Polycarbonate Sheet Expands with Heat and Contracts with Cold
  • Holes must be oversized to allow for thermal movement. Holes for fixings must be drilled 6mm wider in diameter than the fixing for sheet lengths up to 2m. Every additional meter should allow an extra 3mm, for example a 4m sheet sheet have a drill hole of 12mm for the fixing.
2. Fixings
Minimum Washer for Fixings Should be 29mm
  • Fasters must not be over tightened to allow for thermal movement, with fixing perpendicular to sheet.
  • Use caps on shank to prevent leakage down shank.
  • Transparent neutral curing silicone applied under washer before fixing aid sealing.

  • Primary fixings should be located in profile valleys, never closer than 50mm to the end of a sheet.
  • Use secondary fixings to secure and seal side laps of sheets to each other, at 380mm maximum centres or down to 300mm at low roof pitches.
  • When overlapping sheets, stitching with fixings should take place with an expanding rubber gronment type fixing. Use a stitching screw when overlapping with metal.
3. Cutting
A Variety of Tools Can be Used to Cut the Sheets.
  • A fine tooth handsaw - shallow angle with slow steady strokes
  • Jigsaw fitted with a metal cutting blade
  • A band saw fitted with a high speed metal cutting blade
  • Circular saw fitted with a diamond grit blade
4. Drilling
Hand or Power Drills Can be Used.
  • Metal drill bits are suitable for drilling
  • Sheet should be supported under the area where it is being drilled to avoid vibration and stress
